Lorraine Kelly OBE
Lorraine Kelly, OBE is a Scottish television presenter, journalist, model and actress, best known as a presenter for TV-am, and later GMTV and ITV Breakfast, on Daybreak and Lorraine.
Lorraine will host a new Saturday night prime time entertainment show on BBC 1 ‘Wedding Day Winners’ to be broadcast early 2018.
Previously, Lorraine was a reporter and main presenter of TV-am's Good Morning Britain, one of the UK's original breakfast television news programmes.
Lorraine writes a weekly column for "The Sun" and the "Scottish Sunday Post"
In 2006 she won the RTS Award for best presenter and in 2008 was given a "people's choice" Scottish BAFTA.
In 2012, Lorraine was awarded the OBE, for services to charity and the armed forces, by HM The Queen at Holyrood palace in Edinburgh.
In 2014 Lorraine released her book - Lorraine Kelly's Scotland. Lorraine and her husband Steve have travelled the length and breadth of Scotland celebrating it's stories, history and rich heritage.
Her two fitness DVD's - Lorraine Kelly: Living to the Max and Lorraine Kelly: Brand New You, have gone straight to the top of the charts.
She remains a true gem in the breakfast television world.
Lorraine was born in Glasgow and joined her local weekly newspaper "The East Kilbride News" as a cub reporter straight from school aged seventeen.
In 1983 she joined BBC Scotland as a researcher and a year later she became TVam's Scottish correspondent covering stories like the Piper Alpha disaster and the Lockerbie bombing.
In 1989 she was chosen as the new TVam presenter alongside Mike Morris, winning the TRIC (Television and Radio Industry Award) for best newcomer in 1990.
Lorraine married her husband Steve (a cameraman for TVam) in September 1992.
When TVam lost its franchise, Lorraine was the only presenter to be retained by GMTV. She was given her own show on coming back to work after the birth of her daughter Rosie in June 1994. In September 2010, GMTV came to an end, with ITV Breakfast taking over. Lorraine launched with a brand new look, alongside Daybreak, which Lorraine also presented. Lorraine can now be seen hosting her own show, Lorraine, every weekday from 8.30am.
Lorraine has collaborated with fashion retailer, JD Williams for a number of years, she not only models but designs her own fashion collection each season. This year Lorraine has also collaborated with Wayfair on her own homeware collection.
Lorraine has hosted and presented many other TV programmes including "Have I Got News for You", the "Friday Night Project" and the "Paul O'Grady Show". She has appeared as a guest on shows as diverse as "Question Time" and "Never Mind the Buzzcocks".
From 1997 - 1999, she hosted her own two hour show on Talk Radio, and has also presented programmes on Radio 2 and BBC Scotland.
She has presented "Missing Children" and "Missing Mothers" for SKY TV and "Lorraine Kelly's Big Fat Challenge" for the BIO channel. Also the ITV1 daytime show "Celebrity Pressure Cooker".
Lorraine was elected Rector of Dundee University in 2004 - 2007; and was invited to be Honorary Colonel of the Black Watch Cadets in June 2009.
She has run the London marathon three times and the New York marathon once, and takes part in the 26 mile "Moonwalk" every year; raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity.
She is a keen supporter of breast cancer charities, CLIC Sargent and Strathcarron Hospice near Stirling. Lorraine is patron of Help for Heroes.
Lorraine lives in Dundee with her husband Steve and daughter Rosie and is an avid Dundee United supporter.
